Vaastu Shastra – Why it is significant ?

The term “VAASTU” is derived from the word ‘VAS’, which means place to dwell (habitation). AMAR KOS the divine and celestial dictionary defines VASTU as one of the basic element of the human race since the dawn of  civilization. It’s early influence are clearly visible in the leading ancient civilization of Mohenjo Daro in North-West India.

The science of Vaastu is a bridge between beautiful and magnification nature on one side and inquisitive, rational humans on the other. There is nothing mysterious, superstitious or humbug about Vaastu-Shastra, whose genesis lies the nexus between the earth and the sun. Structure, therefore, have to be designed in accordance with Vaastu principles, maintaining perfect harmony with magnetic, planetary and cosmic forces.

It is interesting to notice that people who reside in skyscrapers are generally affected by magnetic forces due to the high consumption of iron and steel used for reinforcement of the structure. Steel conducts north-south forces generating a magnetic field, around us. When iron particles cut a magnetic field, It gives rise to micro-electric charges. Iron is a constituent of hemoglobin in our blood and therefore affects our mental state as nervous impulses are transmitted in the form of electric charges. Such may be the effects of magnetic forces. Magnetic axis is determined by the Compass and hence, every Vaastu consultant is in possession of this instrument for primary analysis of the positivism or negativity of any site/structure. It may be summed up that the approach of Vaastu-Shilpa is nothing but scientific.

It is a science of structure and has nothing to do with religion, caste and creed. It’s benefits can be availed by all. Vaastu is recognized worldwide and its stature is growing by the day in countries like the US, England etc. Between the German cities of Berlin and Bonn, a township has been developed purely on the basis of Indian Vaastu principle under the guidance of our Indian Vaastu consultants who are flown by clients to foreign countries for Vaastu analysis and advice on Industrial as well as residential set-ups. A few academic institutions in India have started a separate faculty for teaching the subject. The literature printed of Vaastu-Shilpa, not only in India but abroad also, is an indication of the growing acceptance of Vaastu on the global scale.

Followers of Vaastu can avail of architectural analysis & advices from experts regarding land, plot, building and factory (based on the ancient Vaastu-Shilpa science). People have experienced that Vaastu paves the way for prosperity, harmony and peaceful living. However, it ought not to be misunderstood that Vaastu will protect you from whatever wrong or bad you do. A blessing should be considered in the right sense and no explanation is necessary. Similarly for those who do not believe in it, no explanation is possible.

According to the principles of Vaastu Shastra, the World comprises of five basic and essential elements known as Panchabhootas, which are Aakaasha (Space), Vaayu (Air), Agni (Fire),  Jala(Water) and bhoomi (Earth).

Man can improve his physical and mental state by the proper construction of his buildings by understanding the effectiveness of these five natural forces. The Shastra decrees that the entire universe exists in endless space, which has no such direction whatsoever. Our directions are defined with respect to the elements. All the eight directions (north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest) have their own respective influences on the human beings. Each direction is representative of the elements as shown below :

North & North West                 – Air
North East                                  – Water
West                                             – Sky
East & South West                    – Earth
South& South East                   – Fire

The North-East area is important to the health and well-being of the family members. It also ensures the continuity of lineage. The presence of water in this direction is said to auger good for the home.  The North West area, the Vayu Moola, should have open spaces. Improper maintenance of this area may lead to quarrel, litigation and misunderstanding in the dwellers. The presence of Agni in Agni Moola, the South East area, is said to avoid troubles in the family and at work. Therefore, according to Vaastu, the kitchen is usually aligned South East. Proper maintenance of the South-West area, the Kubera Moola, is said to bring prosperity and wealth.  These are just a few principles of Vaastu Shastra. It is a vast science that incorporates a lot more issues like direction of plot, time and celestial objects.
